„Nástupište 1-12“ (Platform 1-12) is a civic association whose members are several artists, visual artists, graphic designers, psychologists, activists and cultural managers. The civic association Platform 1-12 was founded in April 2011. They specialize in conceiving and running projects aimed at art, culture and education, but also environment and sport. The aim of their activities is an overall improvement of the quality of life of the inhabitants of this region. They also cooperate intensively with other cultural and educational institutions inside and outside the region, particularly with secondary schools.

The key project of the association is Platform 1-12, the multimedia space for contemporary culture opened for the public in the underpass beneath the bus station in Topolcany, Slovakia in September 2011. The space itself offers a platform to present arts, cultural and educative workshops and discussions in a unique attempt to recycle the public space.

The association undertakes most of its activities there, including art exhibitions, expert lectures, seminars, workshops, public radio recordings, theatre performances, film screenings, music performances and discussions. They not only place emphasis on the actual presentation of art or culture, but also try to arouse public interest in these areas and encourage creativity of the public.

The gallery space accepts already existing works to exhibit, however the most of the art works are site specific creations, especially considering the surrounding that can serve itself as a medium for communication and dialogue between art work and the non-traditional viewers.

At the same time the organization directly supports the creation of works of young national and international artists. They also develop the cross-board cooperation with partners from UK, Austria and USA within the project of international artist exchanges „Regular Lines“.

Nástupište 1-12 (Platfrom 1-12) participated with two projects – „Multimedia Space for Contemporary Culture Nástupište 1-12“ and „324“ in a collective exhibition „Asking Architecture – The Pavillion of Czech and Slovak Republic¨ at 13th International Architecture Exhibition of la Bienale di Venezia, „Common Ground“.

The project „Multimedia Space for Contemporary Culture Nástupište 1-12“ have been nominated for The „MOST“ award by Youth Council of Slovak Republic and became one of the five best projects focus on youth education in Slovak Republic in year 2013.

In July 2013 Nástupište 1-12 (Platfrom 1-12) became part of the team for site-specific installations for Kosice 2013, European Capital of Culture. In December 2013 Nástupište 1-12 (Platfrom 1-12) became part of the team for site-specific installation for Amsterdam Light Festival, Netherland.
